Box Build Service
“Box Build” (complete unit assembly or system integration assembly) refers to the process of assembling a printed circuit board (PCBA)—following the completion of PCB assembly—together with other components into a complete, functional product; it represents the final “board-to-system” stage within Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS).
Our Box Build service covers full system integration after PCBA manufacturing. We integrate PCBA, enclosures, cables, connectors, power supplies, displays and all mechanical parts into a finished ready-to-ship electronic product. We support custom box build projects for industrial equipment, IoT devices, control panels and consumer electronics, with full functional testing before final packaging.
Key Points:
- Scope: Building upon the PCBA, this process incorporates structural components (housings/chassis), cables, power supplies, heatsinks, displays/interfaces, and peripherals to complete the assembly of the entire unit.
- Process Steps: Typically includes—sub-board interconnection → wire harness/cable assembly → mechanical structure installation → power supply/thermal assembly → final testing (FCT/system-level testing) → burn-in → packaging and shipment.
- Testing: Goes beyond ensuring the functionality of individual boards to verifying system-level features, interfaces, and reliability (system power-up, signal integrity, environmental stress, and burn-in).
- Difference from PCBA: PCBA operates at the “board level,” whereas Box Build operates at the “system level”—integrating boards, enclosures, cabling, power supplies, and other components into a finished product.
- Value: Offers customers a “one-stop” solution for finished products, eliminating the need for them to handle structural, cabling, or system-level assembly themselves.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Besides PCBA assembly, what other services are included in EMS manufacturing and what are the details?
A: In addition to PCBA assembly, EMS manufacturing covers a full range of supporting services. It includes electronic component sourcing, cable harness fabrication, mechanical part integration, Box Build full system assembly, multi-type product testing, custom marking & labeling, final product packaging and shipment arrangement. We can deliver complete turnkey finished electronic products instead of only bare PCBA boards.
Q: Do I need to supply the enclosure and mechanical parts?
A: Two options are available. You can provide all mechanical drawings and parts, or we can source the housing, cables and hardware for you based on your drawings and BOM.
Q: Will you test the whole finished unit after assembly?
A: Definitely. We will perform full system functional testing on the completed box build unit. Aging and reliability tests can also be added for industrial and high-reliability projects.
Q: Can you support partial box build assembly?
A: Yes. We accept partial assembly jobs, for example only cable harness assembly or PCBA + housing assembly without final full system test.
Q: Can you add custom logo marking and product labels?
A: Sure. Laser engraving, silk screen printing, custom stickers and serial number labeling are available for finished box build products.
