PCBA Testing Service

PCBA Testing refers to the series of inspections and verifications performed on boards that have completed assembly and soldering. Its purpose is to confirm acceptable solder quality, correct electrical connectivity, and full compliance of board-level function with design requirements, thereby preventing defective units from reaching customers. To uphold the highest quality standards, a comprehensive testing strategy is typically applied, covering visual inspection, electrical testing, functional verification, and reliability evaluation.

Our PCBA testing service supports all assembled circuit boards, including SMT, DIP and mixed PCBA. We provide custom test solutions for consumer electronics, industrial control, IoT, automotive and medical electronics. All testing processes follow IPC standards to ensure stable and reliable board performance before shipment.

Key Points:

  • Visual Inspection: Check soldering defects, component misalignment, polarity errors and surface damage after assembly.
  • Electrical Testing: Continuity and isolation test to verify open/short circuits and stable electrical performance.
  • Functional Test (FCT): Power up the assembled PCBA and validate all functions match your design specifications.
  • Automated Test Equipment: We use professional AOI and ICT equipment for fast, repeatable mass inspection.
  • Defect Handling: Identify, record and rework faulty boards before shipment to ensure zero defect delivery.

Our PCBA Testing Workflow

  1. 1. Test Document Review: Receive and analyze your test specification, schematic and acceptance criteria.
  2. 2. Visual & AOI Inspection: Automatic optical inspection to check soldering defects, missing and misaligned components.
  3. 3. X-Ray Inspection: Detect hidden solder defects under BGA, QFN and bottom-mounted components.
  4. 4. ICT In-Circuit Test: Test continuity, short circuit, resistance and capacitance of individual components.
  5. 5. FCT Functional Test: Power up the board and verify complete functions according to your requirements.
  6. 6. Optional Reliability Test: Burn-in, thermal cycling, hi-pot test available for high-reliability projects.
  7. 7. Test Report & Packing: Generate test records, separate defective boards and pack qualified PCBA.

Our PCBA Testing Advantages

Multi-layer Inspection Workflow

We combine AOI automated optical inspection, ICT in-circuit test and FCT functional test. Multiple checking steps catch hidden soldering and circuit faults that single testing may miss.

Customized Test Program

We build tailored test procedures according to your Gerber files, BOM and functional specs. The test plan fits your product’s unique requirements, not one-size-fits-all.

Strict Defect Tracking & Rework

All detected defects are logged with full records. We carry out professional rework and re-testing, only qualified boards move to next production stage.

Reliability Verification Available

On request, we can perform reliability tests including thermal cycling, humidity test and vibration test for high-reliability industrial and automotive electronics.

Quality Report Support

We provide test reports upon request. Full traceable testing records help you with quality review and product certification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between AOI, ICT and FCT?

A: AOI is automatic visual inspection to check soldering appearance. ICT is in-circuit test for electrical parameters of individual components. FCT is functional test to verify whether the whole PCBA works as designed. We can combine these tests according to your project needs.

A: Yes. Please provide test procedure, expected voltage/current values and acceptance criteria. If you have existing test fixture, you can send it to our factory. We can also develop custom FCT fixtures and test programs.

A: We recommend X-ray inspection for all BGA, CSP and bottom QFN assemblies. It can check voids, cold solder and open joints that cannot be seen visually. X-ray report can be provided upon request.

A: Yes. Burn-in and Hi-pot testing are available for industrial, medical and automotive PCBA. Please tell us your test duration, voltage and temperature requirements for quotation.

A: Yes. We can supply inspection logs, AOI/X-ray screenshots and FCT test records. Test certificates can be issued for high reliability orders.

A: Sure. We accept standalone PCBA testing service for PCBA boards you supplied. We will evaluate the boards and quote the test cost separately.
